Upgrading from RMRTASK BETA version INTRODUCTION Welcome to my Extended ToDo Manager for the EPOC 32 Series of handheld computers. As it stands, this Shareware version is fully-working with no disabled functions, but will allow only a limited number of entries, to enable you to try the program out. Please note that registration does not involve reloading the program, but simply selecting the'Register' menu option and typing in a registration code to release the 'lock'. FILE DETAILS The archive file should contain files: RMRTASK.SIS The program RMROPX.SIS The OPL extensions needed for the program README.TXT English Instructions LIESMICH.TXT German Instructions LEAME.TXT Spanish Instructions Once installed. you will see the program consists of the following essential files: \SYSTEM\APPS\RMRTASK\RMRTask.app - The main program file \SYSTEM\APPS\RMRTASK\RMRTask.mbm - The icons used within the program \SYSTEM\APPS\RMRTASK\RMRTask.aif - The icons used in the System screen \SYSTEM\APPS\RMRTASK\RMRTask.rsc - The Language resource file And some additional extension files for the clever bits \SYSTEM\OPX\Alarm1.opx \SYSTEM\OPX\Sysram1.opx \SYSTEM\OPX\Agnopx.opx And the following optional files which you may have installed and can be deleted later: \SYSTEM\APPS\RMRTASK\RMRTask.hlp - Help File C:\RMRTask.Ins - A full set of Instructions in S5 Word format. C:\Taskconv.app - A program to Import data from S5TASK/GEOTASK INSTALLATION To install the program simply double-click on the RMRTASK.SIS file or select the "Install New Program" option in PSIWIN (EPOC Install). If you have the latest PSIWIN or EPOC Install then everything will happen automatically. If you don't have these then you need to get the installation file SETUP.EXE, which can be downloaded from our Home Page. If you are unsure, then go to http://www.rmrsoft.com/sis.htm for a full explanation of the installation procedure. Once the program is installed, with the optional files as you require, just repeat the operation for the OPX.SIS file as well. These OPXs are installed separately. so that a subsequent removal of RMRTASK using the "Add/Remove" option on Control Panel will not delete these OPX files, some of which are used by other programs. Under no circumstances should you use the "Add/Remove" option on the OPX files. If you know you do not require a certain OPX. then delete it manually. If you need to import data from S5TASK/GEOTASK then use the TASKCONV.APP, running it by tapping on the APP file. This will generate the data files for RMRTASK. RUNNING THE PROGRAM Start the program by selecting the 'Extras' from the Application bar and then 'RMRTask'. If you fancy a challenge, you can learn everything you need to about the program by playing with it and checking the effect of each MENU selection, as well as the effect of pressing <ENTER>, <DELETE>, <TAB>, or <ESC>, in each screen, by observing the effect of touching various parts of the screen with the pen, and by reading the on-line Help file. However, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, at least read the rest of this file first, for some very important information. All comments and, of course, registrations, gratefully received. REGISTRATION If you wish to register the program, you can do so by post (snail-mail), or on-line using the SWREG facility on Compuserve, or on the WWW by using RegNet (credit cards). If you use these addresses, Registration codes will be sent out fairly quickly, but if you send a technical query, it will have to be redirected to me, so might take a few weeks to reply. If you have access, I can be reached quickly at support@rmrsoft.com The quickest way to register, if you have access to CompuServe, is to use GO SWREG and use Registration ID - 15622. The notification normally reaches me in 24 hours and I can reply with the code quickly, again normally within 24 hrs. Ignore the question about the disc size when you register, you do not need one. (Note that using this method will require an extra $3 handling charge) If you wish to register using a credit card you can register on the WWW through RegNet, the Registration Network. RegNet can be reached by e-mail: orders@swregnet.com or on the World Wide Web: http://www.swregnet.com or in the USA by calling 1-800-WWW2REG (1 800 999-2734) or the easiest way is by following the links from my WWW Home page at: http://www.rmrsoft.com/ This program has been allocated the REGNET Number: 1015 and this should be quoted. Again, the notification tends to get to me within 24 hours and I reply within another 24 hrs. (Note that paying by this method will involve an extra US$5 handling charge) In each case, I (or my agent) will then send you a personalised registration code to enter (select the option via the Menu) to remove the 'nag' screen and allow full use of the program. Note that you will NOT need a new copy of the program, all the functionality is already there but just needs 'unlocking' by the registration code. I will also ensure that this code remains forward compatible for future versions of the program so, unlike other programs, I will not be asking for a further fee for an upgrade. IMPORTANT POINTS Please note the following: 1. The configuration file (RMRTask.ini) and registration details (RMRTask.reg) are saved in the same folder as the application files, but on the C: drive (C:\System\Apps\RMRTask\), so don't be surprised if you lose that information (and registration) if you delete these files. 2. Please do NOT try changing the name of, or moving, a Group from the system screen just by renaming the document file. The title you use for a Group is used for all the data files, not just the one in the document folder. If you do wish to move or rename a Group, simply use the "Move group" or 'Save as' file command from within the Program. 3. I have provided a BACKUP and RESTORE option (<Shift+Ctrl+B> and <Shift+Ctrl+R> in the main screen) to enable you to keep a COMPLETE copy of all your data files somewhere else on the system. Although there were only 2 recorded cases of complete data loss in S3ATASK, I am not so arrogant as to say that the transfer to the 32-bit system was perfect and there isn't a 'bug' lurking in there waiting to trap the unwary. Personally I use this option every couple of days, as well as backing up regularly on a PC. I do think the program is safe, but even I still wouldn't trust it completely. Basically, if you lose some data and you haven't kept a backup of some description, don't expect any sympathy from me !! UPGRADING FROM S5TASK/GEOTASK I have provided a conversion program which upgrades S5TASK/GEOTASK files to RMRTASK format and this is included in the SIS installation. UPGRADING FROM RMRTASK BETA VERSION The final release uses a different storage method to the BETA version. This results in faster performance and much smaller data files. To convert data files from the BETA copy just use the "Sort Tasks by.." menu option to change to a different sort method, and then use it again to revert back to the original method.
