README
Welcome to FindIT: Overview: FindIT is a program that was initially designed to keep track of what items or names are in which Database. Through my years of owning a Psion (especially) with the Series 5 I have found it so frustrating when looking for a name of a person or an item you always have a tendency to go to the wrong Database first. FindIT keeps a record of names/items and allows you to attach the name of a database to that record, therefore next time you want to find that person/item you just go to FindIT then type their name into the keyboard ( or "Find" in the usual manor Psion F or press the Space Bar) and then press enter, FindIT will then look for that item and display it at the top of the screen, or it will display all of the entries in the file if you have chosen to search by "Multiples". If you need to go to that item in the Database you just "Tap" the screen where the item is displayed or just press "Enter". On single entry finds you can press Ctrl J to go to the next item displayed. For further details please read the file "FindIT_Inst" which is the Word file. Manual Installation: Once unzipped create a new folder on your Psion called "\SYSTEM\APPS\FIndIT" on any drive and copy all of the files except the "FIndIT_Inst" and the "SysRAM1.opx" files into it. Now move the file FindIT_Inst to a more commonly used folder this is the Word file and you may want to access it more often. The file "SysRAM1.opx" must be placed in a folder called "\SYSTEM\OPX\" and this must be on the internal drive. Unzipping using S5Zip: If you are unzipping FindIT on your Psion, using S5Zip, go into S5Zip and open the FIndIT.zip archive. Once all files are displayed highlight them in the usual way and choose "Extract File". Leave the top line of the extract file dialog blank, choose which drive you want FIndIT to go onto then make sure the "Restore Folder" option is checked. (i.e There is a tick in the box), now just press enter. S5Zip will now unzip FIndIT placing all files where they should go. The Word file for FIndIT will go into the top level system screen folder. If you have unzipped to the "D" drive you must now move the file "SysRAM1.opx" on to the main internal drive, which should be kept in a folder called "\SYSTEM\OPX\". Unzipping on a PC: To unzip FIndIT on a PC just unzip the whole file into a folder of your choice. Make sure when unzipping you set the unzipper to "Discard Directory" information Otherwise it will create sub directories of the folder you are unzipping into. Once unzipped create a new folder on your Psion called "\SYSTEM\APPS\FIndIT" on any drive and copy all of the files except the "FIndIT_Inst" and the "SysRAM1.opx" files into it. Now move the file FindIT_Inst to a more commonly used folder. The file FindIT_Inst is the Instruction/Word file and you may need to access it more often so it helps to have to hand. The file "SysRAM1.opx" must be placed in a folder called "\SYSTEM\OPX\" and this must be on the internal drive. That's it! Thanks for reading! Please mail any comments to: tsteven@cix.co.uk
