For all those people who expressed an interest, I proudly present cribbage for the Psion. However as usual as most of the programs I write, I write for my own use, there is no help function so if you dont know how to play - ask someone who does or look it up in a card games book. I will try and beifly outline the rules though.
INSTALLING THE GAME
Create a directory (on any drive) called CRIB
Into this, place the files AICRIB.OPA and CRIBBAGE.OPA
Then create another directory within CRIB called GFX and place the rest of the files here. They should all be .PIC files apart from this one obviously (This can be deleted)
eg.
B:\CRIB\Cribbage.opa
B:\CRIB\AiCrib.opa
B:\CRIB\GFX\arrow.pic
B:\CRIB\GFX\card2.pic
\ *.pic etc etc
Install the program Cribbage from the system screen, by pressing TAB over the 'file' prompt and selecting the directory CRIB and then Cribbage.opa

THE RULES
Each player is dealt six cards, both players then have to select two cards to throw into 'the box'.
The box makes up a second hand, when scoring, for each player in turn.
Jacks, Queens and Kings have a value of ten when adding card values up to acheive fifteen.
Aces are always low, counting as one point.
Scoring points in your hand. Any collection of cards adding up to 15 scores 2 points.
Any run of three or more scores 1 point per card involved.
Any pair scores 2 points.
Three of a kind hence scores 6.
Four of a kind hence scores 12 points.
If you possess the jack of the same suit as the card turned over before play, you receive 1 point.
If all four cards in your hand are of the same suit then you receive 4 points.
Also ( I can't remember if I added this, but ) if the card turned up is also the same suit as the four in your hand, you receive five points instead of four.
e.g. In your hand, J(H) Q(S) K(S) 5(C) Card turned over, K(D)
2 points for J(H) and 5(C) adds up to fifteen
2 points for Q(S) and 5(C) ditto
2 points for K(S) and 5(C) ditto
2 points for K(D) and 5(C) ditto
3 points for J(H) Q(S) and K(S) a run
3 points for J(H) Q(S) and K(D) another combination of a run.
2 points for K(S) and K(D) a pair.
Total of 16 points - quite a good score.
e.g. In your hand 4(S) 5(S) 4(D) 6(C) Card turned over 6(H)
2 points for a pair of fours.
2 points for a pair of sixes.
2 points for 4(S)+5(S)+6(C)=15
2 points for 4(S)+5(S)+6(H)=15
2 points for 4(D)+5(S)+6(C)=15
2 points for 4(D)+5(S)+6(H)=15
3 points for 4(S),5(S),6(C) a run
3 points for 4(S),5(S),6(H) a run
3 points for 4(D),5(S),6(C) a run
3 points for 4(D),5(S),6(H) a run
Total = 24 points, an even better hand.
Both players must throw two cards into the box before a card gets turned, and incidentally, if a jack is turned over, then the person whose turn it is to have the box automatically receives 2 points.
Then, play begins, players take it in turns to put down cards, keeping a running total. If a card is put down making this total equal to fifteen, he/she recieves 2 pegging points. Likewise if the total gets to thirty-one. However, the total cannot exceed thirty-one. If you can't go, then the other player can keep going until he/she can't, before receiving one point for the last card put down to whoever placed it. Then you start another round with the running count at zero playing out any cards remaining.
If in the same round, a card eg a four is put down, and you follow with another four, you receive 2 pegging points for a pair. If another four is put down, then a further 6 points are received by that person, and if per chance the fourth four should go down, an extra 12 points are received by the person who put it down. (NB it can be done with any card, not just with fours)
If in the same round, a run occurs, you receive 1 point per card in the run so far.
Egs. Your hand (ignoring suits) 3 4 5 6 Box J Q A 9
His hand (ignoring suits) 4 4 7 7
Card turned K
Play begins
Total
You lead the 3 3
He places a 4 7
You put down the 5 12 you get three points for the run (3,4,5)
He puts down his other 4 16
You play your 4 20 you get two points for a pair.(4,4)
He plays a 7 27
You cant go! 27+6=33 (greater than 31)
He cant go! 27+7=34 he receives one point for putting down the last card (7)
NEXT ROUND
You play first cos he placed the last card.
You play the 6 6
He plays his 7 13 one point to him for the last card.
You got a total of 5 points compared to his 2 during play, but now you score your hands.
The person who has the box always score second, a crucial point to remember when you are near the end of the game.
HIS HAND
4,4 a pair 2 points.
7,7 a pair 2 points.
4+4+7=15 2 points
4+4+7=15 2 points
Total 8 points
YOUR HAND
4+5+6 = 15 2 points.
K+5 = 15 2 points
3,4,5,6 a run 4 points
Total 8 points.
YOUR BOX
J,Q,K a run 3 points
Total 3 points
Next hand.
SCORING.
Whenever you score any points, they are automatically added on there and then. The pegs more from left to right along the outside row of holes, and then back down the inner row. You must go round twice before winning. The last hole is on the left hand side in the centre, it is a race to get there.
