Ants v1.6 ========= (C) 1996 Thomas Ashton ====================== Installing... ============= Copy the following files to the following directorys on the same drive. Only copy the .wve files if you want sound. (You can choose to have beeps instead) File Directory ==== ========= Ants.opa \APP\ Game.opo \ANTS\ Data.pic \ANTS\ Levels.opd \ANTS\ AntYip.wve \ANTS\ (Optional) AntScrm.wve \ANTS\ (Optional) Once you have copied the files to your Psion you must then place the highlight at the position you wish to install the icon for Ants and press Psion-I. In the dialog select the main Ants.opa file and press return. The icon for Ants should then appear on your system screen. Placing the highlight under the icon and pressing retun from now on should let you play Ants. Instructions... =============== If you have ever played the game Lemmings before then you should recognise how to play the game, but for those of you who haven't basicly what happens is your ants start in the level and they just keep walking. If they walk into somthing they will turn around and if they fall onto some spikes they will die. Your ants can all do special jobs to help them get to the exit on the level and all the jobs use equipment up depending on how much you use that job. The different jobs... ===================== Dig --- Selecting this will make the ant walk to the end of the current 'tile' and start digging. The ants can't dig through walls. Tunnel ------ Basicly the same as dig but going fowards instead! Bridge ------ Selecting this option will make an ant bridge over gaps when it gets to them instead of falling down the gap. Block ----- The ant will walk to the end of the current 'tile' and hold up a STOP sign making any ant that encounters it turn around. Explode ------- The ant will walk to the end of the current tile and detonate the explosives it's carrying. This will blow a hole underneath it in anything including brick walls! (But the ant will die) The aim of each level... ======================== Well, to get as many ants as possible to the exit - of course! (If more than two ants die then you will be forced to play the level again) Controls... =========== Press 1-5 to select the ant to give orders to and press space to tell the ant what to do. If you press space a dialogue will apear with the different jobs on the left and the amount of equipment for each job on the right. If '--' is written on the right that means there is no equipment left to do that job any more. If the ant already has a job you will be given the choice to either cancel or continue doing that job. History ======= v1.0 -- The first release of Ants. -- 16 levels on registered version. -- 5 levels on unregistered version. v1.2 -- Option for changing volume of sound. -- Menu and help in game. -- Read-Me file explains gameplay. v1.6 -- 25 levels on registered version. -- 10 levels on unregistered version. -- Registered users no longer have to press enter to clear the dialog stating their name - instead a quick message flashes up. * v1.2 was never released as I made v1.6 the next day! So what's this shareware thing then? ==================================== Ants is shareware. This means that what you are experiencing at the moment is not the complete thing - more of a taster of what the full version will be like. If you decide that you would like to register your copy of Ants please send UK10 pounds to me. By doing so you will encourage me to make more games for the psion and have extra fun yourself. When you register I will send you a code which you can then type into the game to unlock the rest of the levels, allowing you to play past level 10. The game will also stop nagging you to register when you start and instead display your name. Registered users will also receive all future updates I make to the game.
