Conversion Calculator ====================== This program, Freeware version 1.0 for the Series 3a/3c, started off life as an experiment for converting imperial measures to metric and visaversa, then it just grew from there! I find it useful and believe that tools such as this one should be free, I hope you find it as useful as I do. Installation ============ The zip file should contain the following files: Readme.txt (this file) Convert.opa (15,123 bytes) Robot15.fon (1,712 bytes) 1) To install just copy Convert.opa to the "\APP\" directory on the internal drive or any Flash disk; 2) To add the optional font for the calculator display, create a "\FON\" directory on M: or A: or B: (it does not matter which drive) and copy the Robot14.fon file to this newly created "\FON\" directory. 3) From the Psion System screen select the Menu for Apps->Install, select the disk where you placed the opa file in step 1 then select Convert.opa from the "File: Name" list; On running the conversion calculator for the first time, it will create a small file (629 bytes) in the "\APP\" directory on the internal disk. This file contains the details for 20 configurable conversions intended for currency conversion. On-line help is provided and can be accessed from the menu or the Help key. However, I have also included the help details at the end of this file. Disclaimer ========== Though every effort has been made to test this program and to ensure that the conversion factors are correct (except the currency rates!) the author can accept no responsibility for any loss or damage caused by the use of this program. Features ======== This calculator provides a number of standard conversions, including Temperature and speed. Standard currency conversion is also available which can be set by the user to reflect the current exchange rates. Also basic calculation functions (+ - * /) are provided. Negative numbers and fixing the number of decimal points (useful for currency calculations) are also provided. Conversions ----------- The following conversions are built into the calculator: Length:- Inches to Centimetres Feet to Metres Miles to Kilometres UK Nautical Miles to Kilometres International Nautical Miles to Kms Area:- Square inches to Square cm Square feet to Square metres Square yards to Square metres Acres to Hectares Square miles to Square kilometres Volume:- Cubic inches to Cubic cm UK Pints to Litres UK gallons to Litres Cubic feet to Cubic metres Cubic feet to litres UK gallons to US gallons Weight:- Ounces to Grams Pounds to Kilograms Stones to Kilograms Tons (imperial) to Tonnes (metric) Velocity:- MPH to KPH MPH to Knots Temperature:- Fahrenheit to Celsius Number Base:- Binary (Base 2) Represented with a leading '&' Hex (Base 16) Represented with a leading '$' Octal (Base 8) Represented with a leading '%' The User defined Conversions ---------------------------- Using the application, it is possible to define your own conversion rates, the intended use for this is for currencies. 20 Exchange rates are preset in these user definable conversions.
