README
Blitz 1.1 (C) Richard Smedley 1997 rsmedley@cix.co.uk INTRODUCTION ------------ Anyone who used to have a Vic 20 or Spectrum will instantly recognise the game... Yep it's the classic Blitz/Bombers game! Features include two difficulty settings, and three types of bomb to really flatten that city! You're in an aircraft flying over a city, and have run out of fuel. There is nowhere in sight where you can land. As you start to lose height, you realise that your only chance of survival is to bomb the city to clear a landing space before you crash in to any of the buildings. There are three types of bombs that you can use: NORMAL BOMBS, which will destroy the top 2-3 floors of any buildings that they hit. NUKES, which not only totally flatten the building they hit but also destroy the buildings on either side too! And CLUSTER BOMBS, which release three bombs that will destroy the top 1-2 floors of any buildings they hit. You only have limited numbers of each type of bomb available, so make sure you use them carefully - you won't get any more when you run out! You can drop bombs by pressing either the space bar or the return key. Unfortunately, you can only drop one bomb at a time - so you have to wait for the current bomb to finish falling before you can drop another one. If you succeed in completely destroying all the buildings, then your plane will land and refuel. You'll then fly to another city with slightly taller buildings, where the game starts again... CONTROLS -------- Use the following keys to play the game: 1 - Select normal bombs 2 - Select nukes 3 - Select cluster bombs RETURN/SPACE - Drop the current bomb P - Pause the game (press any key to unpause) GAME OPTIONS ------------ Pressing Psion-O will display the game options window. Here, you can select the following: Sound -> On/Off Difficulty -> Easy/Hard Setting the game to Easy will make the bombs fall a lot faster than what they do normally, making the game a lot easier to play. There are separate high score tables for the two levels. If you change the difficulty in the middle of a game, then a new game will be automatically started for you. INSTALLATION ------------ The game is compatible with the Psion S3a and S3c. I'm afraid that it won't work on the Sienna, sorry. The game can be installed onto SSD, all you have to do is copy the files into the following dirs on any drive: BLITZ.OPA -> \APP\ ALIEN.WVE -> \APP\BLITZ\ BLITZ.FON -> \APP\BLITZ\ BOOM.WVE -> \APP\BLITZ\ CLICK.WVE -> \APP\BLITZ\ TITLE.PIC -> \APP\BLITZ\ Now install it in the normal way by pressing Psion-I on the System screen. HOW TO REGISTER --------------- This game has been released as shareware. The shareware version is fully functional in every way, it simply displays a "nag" screen occasionally to encourage you to register. The registration fee is 5 UK Pounds. I'm happy to accept registrations in cash in most major currencies, including Pounds Sterling, Deutschmarks, and US Dollars. Unfortunately, I can only accept personal cheques if they're made out in Pounds Sterling and drawn on a UK bank - no foreign cheques please! When you register I'll give you a serial number and registration code, which you can enter into the program by pressing Psion-R. This will stop the nag screens from appearing. Your registration code is solely for your own personal use, and must not be given to anybody else.
