Therefore, included with PsiFile is this short description. It informs you - in a nutshell - how to install and work with PsiFile. If you have questions after reading the manual, send an e-mail to 'agiessen@worldonline.nl'. WHY DEVELOP PSIFILE I decided to write PsiFile when I could not find a small file manager that was - in my eyes - easy to use. The result is a file manager that takes up 20 kB of your disk space and 28 kB working memory when you run it. OVERVIEW PsiFile offers you the following: - An easy way of navigating through the local and remote disks, using an interface similar to Norton Commander - Copy, rename, move or delete a file or tagged files; - Set file attributes. - Create, rename or remove directories; - Open files with an attached application (with the possibility to add your own extensions). [New in v1.1] - Sort files not only on name, but also on file type, size and date [New in v1.2] - Getting disk information, such as total disk size, free space. On flash disks, free space after compression is estimated. [New in v1.2] - Quick disk selection, using hot keys Shift-A..Z to select the specified local disk, and Psion-Shift-A..Z to select the specified remote disk. [New in v1.2] INSTALLING PsiFile consists of three files, PSIFILE.OPA, PSIFILE.HLP and PSIFILE.DBF. Copy PSIFILE.OPA and PSIFILE.HLP to the \APP directory on drive A,B or M. Copy PSIFILE.DBF to M:\OPD. (If you don't need online help, skip PSIFILE.HLP). Then use <Psion>-I to install PsiFile. SPECIAL KEYS The following keys are defined: Up/Down Scroll up/down. Psion-Up/Down Page up/down. Home/End Go to first/last file in directory Enter Select a directory. Ctrl-A..Z Go to speficied remote disk Ctrl-Shift-A..Z Go to speficied remote disk A..Z Go to the next file starting with this character. Tab Switch between windows. +, * Tag and untag one file. -, / Tag and untag all files. Diamond Go to the up-directory. PLEASE NOTICE THAT PSION-ENTER HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH PSION-S!! SETTING PREFERENCES First of all, you can enter the directories to be displayed in the left and right window when PsiFile starts. You can also choose whether you'd like to use the grey palet or not. Though it looks nice, keep in mind that it requires about 9 kb. Last of all, you can enter the cache size to be used (choose a value between 0 and 10000). Please notice that with the exception of the 'Use grey' option, all options will be activated the next you use PsiFile. ADDING EXTENSIONS If you wish to attach an application to a certain filetype (e.g. ASM), press Psion-E to start editing the extensions. Enter the extension itself, the application that should be started, the description of the application (this is the name that you see below an application without any data files) and, if needed, alias info. Example - Extension : PIC - Application : M:\APP\DRAW.APP - App descr. : Draw - Alias info : none (just skip the line, enter nothing) Should you have any problem, contact me.
